Hello America Lit Circles Final Post

Quote 1:"'How do you know she's Jewish?'
'I can tell a Jew anywhere!'
'Can you? Would you take me for a Jew?'
'You? Oh no. Certainly not! You must be German'
I pull up my sleeve. 'Do you know what this is?'
She looks at the tattoo on my arm. 'What is this?'
Blood rushes to my face. I'm shaking. I'm losing my cool. 'This number was put on me in Auschwitz by people like you!'" on Page 146, Paragraph 8 (Elli)

Response:When I read this, it totally changed my mind on earlier on the book for question seven, It changed my view on this question because this women is just totally against Jews.. because they're Jews. Obviously, that's wrong. It was even worse for her because she was in the holocaust, so she has to stand up for her Jewish rights. And that's exactly what she did to that woman, she just yelled at her because it was extremely rude and disrespectful of that woman to do that.

Connection: This has happened to me before because for me being Asian. I always hear lot of racist jokes, stories and other things to laugh at my race about. Even though I'm only 25% Asian, it feels like its 100% offensive. So just as Elli did, I confront them about it and sometimes it resorts to violence or yelling.

Quote 2:"You don't know? They are our cousins. First cousins of to Mordecai and me. Their families came here many years ago, years before the First World War." (Uncle Abish) On Page 56 Paragraph 4

Response:This quote answers question one which explained why . The reason why Elli came to America. The reason Elli and her Family came to America was because that they had relatives that had lived in America long ago before they came. Its probably why all of the other immigrants came on that boat to America with them.

Connection: My Aunt Came to America because of her dad. Her dad worked for the American Army, so the Army thought it would be best if that they lived in America. So they moved, the entire family, he was the only required one that had to leave but he took the entire family, the wife, and the 6 kids. Shes also the person that I'm Interviewing for the Immigration project.
