Hello America Lit Circle Post #1

Quote 1:"I can see it. . . . It's so hard to believe. And yet it is true. Thank God for having reached this moment." Elli Said it on page 2.

This answers the second question because it shows that the trip was frightening but very exciting. Everyone was anxious to get ashore but it was frightening because they didn't want to get arrested by the police. But everyone on the boat couldn't stop thinking about starting they re new lives in America.

This is connected to my life because Ive been in situations like this where you know that there's serious risk in doing it but its all worth it in the end. I think that if I were on the ship i would feel like everyone else. To finally have freedom and peace from the old country that I just came from.

How would you feel if you were in an immigrants place on this ship?

Quote 2:"Look, Mommy. There. There, on the Horizon. Can you see it? The Statue Of Liberty! Oh, Mommy! Did you think we'd live to see this sight?"

This answers the 7th question because so far just seeing one of the great things in America is one of they're life dreams. So I think that people will be a little rough to the New Americans but the glory and freedom of America Will treat them well. The money that they will get for there jobs compared to back in they're old country is going to be much better.

This relates to me because some things are honestly so beautiful it can change your life. This has happened to me many times and this part reminded me of how great America is compared to other places.

Has anything dealing with America ever made you feel like this?
A sight? A place? anything?
