Ralph hid in a thicket of bushes and creeper by Castle rock, so that Jack and his tribe would not find him. Before Ralph was about to go and hide in the ticket, he was given a chunk of meat by Sam'n'Eric. I find it sad that Sam'n'Eric joined Jacks tribe because they were beaten and tortured, and didn't have a choice in doing it.

When Ralph flees to the beach, he discovers the Naval officer carrying a revolver and a drill made coat, and epaulettes.Jack appears on the beach with his painted face and holding Piggy's glasses.Percival has seemed to have forgotten his name and address. Ralph takes responsibility by saying to the naval officer that he is the leader. The boys appeared in front of the naval officer with destined bellies like savages. The naval officer is disappointed because he though they were playing a game until Ralph was serious about two deaths, and was not diddling.
