Sam and Eric are so terrified because they both saw the beast on the island late at night, I think they're panic may have changed they're look from what was really there to something much more terrifying. Because they're thinking that its a pig but how can a pig float in the air? How can a pig be in the water?

They describe it as a pig that has glowing red eyes, with a scarred body and terrifying teeth. As you can see I think that their overreaction caused them to see it differently. I don't think there is any animal on the planet that looks like that at night and can fly.

The attitude that they boys have when hinting the beast is vary scared but now cowardly. They are extremely scared of what is being expected but they have the strong side to it. I think that there really is a beast out there but just not how scary looking that Sam n Eric said it would be.
